Consider Donating Clothing This Holiday Season

As the colder months close in, it is important to donate any clothing we can to those who are in need. Coats and other warm clothing is needed now more than ever, and we can do our part to help those who need what were no longer do.

Whether you are donating through a thrift store, or independent clothing donation locations, helping families in need can come from both of the above. To those who can not afford new clothes the ones we can donate make a world of difference. Looking good for a job interview, keeping kids in nice clothes for school, and keeping families in warm clothes once the winter months hit is one of the most important things we can contribute to.

Take a moment to glance into your closet and think about all the clothes you no longer wear or have a need for, likewise, think of the clothes your children have outgrown if you have them. If you’re anything like me than you probably have a good number for clothes that you could stand to let go. Those no longer used articles can make wonderful charitable donations to those in need. Additionally, it can benefit you, as but cleaning out what you no longer need you can make more space for additional storage, or all new things that you’ve been wanting, but haven’t had room for. Take a day and sort though you and your families clothing and see what you can come up with, I guarantee the amount will be surprising. Additionally, houseware donations can also go a long way towards benefiting families who are less fortunate.

Taking advantage of clothing donation locations also enables you to help the environment. On average many Americans throw out around 82 pounds of clothing and textile waste every year. Fabric like that can sit in landfills for decades, depending on the processing of the fabric. Donating your unwanted clothing helps cut back on the clogging in landfills, as much as it helps those who are in need.

If you are looking to make a difference in your community, consider donating the clothing you no longer have use of. Clothing donation locations are plentiful, and there is sure to be one near to your home. Take a couple hours to sort though your closet, and weed out what you can give. As winter approaches see how many coats, hats, gloves, and scarves you can find that can help a person in need stay warm. Even the smallest donation can help make a difference in someones life.
