How Much Do You Know About EMF Safety?
The electro magnetic frequency, or EMF, that is emitted from cell towers, cell phones, computers, microwaves, and other small appliances has been shown to have negative effects on health. Furthermore, it appears to affect highly sensitive people, including those who present with Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Asperger’s, even more.
EMF safety has been the topic of quite a few studies. In 2007, for example, it was determined that existing public safety limits for EMF emissions were inadequate. Five years prior to that, it had been concluded that more measures needed to be taken to protect public health through initiating biologically-based public safety limits.
In May 2015, the United Nations (U.N.), as well as the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), were called upon to provide increased protection against non-ionizing radiation. This type of radiation is emitted by microwaves, wireless technology, and poor power connections. It is also found in ground currents and low-frequency electromagnetic fields that are associated with electricity.
It’s important to note that during the U.N. and W.H.O. proceedings, over 190 scientists from 40 different countries expressed their concerns and findings about EMF safety.
Health-Risk Studies and EMF
There have been a number of studies that point to the significant health risks caused by EMF radiation. Since 2008, there has been an increasing number of brain tumors of an ?unknown nature.? Interesting to note is that this increase–approximately 30%–is not reflected in the National Cancer Registry.
In a 2010 study, it was determined that short-term EMF exposure caused headaches, irritability, and concentration difficulties in children aged 8-to-17. For children whose mothers used cell phones while pregnant, a variety of issues were identified. Consider these findings:
- 25% had more emotional problems
- 35% were more hyperactive
- 49% experience more conduct issues
- 34% had more issues with their peers
There were two studies conducted in 2012 that are of particular interest. The first, which focused on chronic EMF exposure to biological cells, found that even after 1.5 years, the cells continued to show physiological stress.
The results of the second study, which focused on Wi-Fi-level laptop exposure, found that after only four hours of exposure, sperm viability had decreased.
Also of interest is a national study conducted with adults between the ages of 81-to-91 that focused on the short-term effects of GSM cell phone radiation. The participants within this study reported issues in the following areas:
Minimizing Environmental Risks
Cell towers are becoming even more prevalent throughout communities. They are being placed on school grounds–including pre-schools and day care centers–as well as K-12 campuses. What does this signify? It means that these children are exposed to 1,000 times more radio frequencies at home and school than ever before. In fact, this type of exposure didn’t even exist 20-to-25 years ago.
Even when wireless phones are not in use, they continue to emit radiation 24 hours per day. While many scientists believe it isn’t sufficient, radiation exposure can potentially be limited by holding the phone at least an inch away from the face. This recommendation applies to most, but not all, smart phone models.
Other EMF Safety Precautions
If there is an unobstructed cell phone tower facing a home, school, office building or other facility, and it’s within 984 feet, EMF shielding solutions are recommended.
Given an increased awareness of EMF dangers, there’s a growing need for electromagnetic protection products that provide targeted protection. When conducting research on EMF safety products to protect children and adults from these emissions, consider learning about one or more of the following EMF blocker products:
- Bioelectric shield
- Cellphone radiation blocker
- EMF protection jewelry
- Laptop radiation shield
- Microwave shielding
